Similar to tennis and badminton, pickleball is played with a few varied rules on a shortened court with a net that is slightly lower than a tennis net, using a paddle and a small wiffle ball.

When: Saturdays, 3–5 p.m.

These clinics are a great way for new players to learn the sport of pickleball and work on skills. Players spend one hour in the classroom and then one hour in the gym for on-the-court training. Registered players are welcome to stay and play recreational open pickleball (Level 2.0-3.5) from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. Instruction is provided by Brian Astbury; tennis shoes are required; paddles are available to check out. 

PICKLEBALL DRILLS
Ages 15 and older
March 2–May 25
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8–9 a.m.

These first-come, first-served drill sessions are a great way for players to work on their skills. Stay and play open pickleball from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Players are divided by skill level. Tennis shoes and wristbands are required; instruction is provided. Note: The drill sessions are not for players who are brand new to the sport. Players must be able to demonstrate the following skills prior to participating in the drill sessions:

  • Soft game in the kitchen with both forehand and backhand (minimum 8 reps).
  • Consistent accurate serve and deep return.
  • Understanding and use of the "third shot drop."

Drills instructor is available at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays to test players who are interested in participating.

Tuesday Nights (Individual Ladder League 3.0-3.5 level)
May 30–late August
6:15 p.m. (warm-up 6 p.m.)
Franlo Park
Cost: $25/Player (Includes 1 Onix 2 game ball)  
Size: Max. 16 players  

Sign up as an individual player.
There are 12 weeks of play, including the regular season/playoffs (no regular season rain-out make-ups). Matches are three games to 15 points. Players are welcome to stay and play afterwards. This league is primarily for players who have participated  at the 3.0-3.5 level. Players should only register if they are able to attend the majority of leagues nights. Note: league applications will be reviewed to ensure that participants are in the appropriate divisions. 

Wednesday Nights (Individual “Joker’s Wild” Ladder League 4.0 level ) - FULL
May 31–late August
6:15 p.m.
(warm-up 6 p.m.)

Cost: $25/Player
(Includes 1 Onix 2 game ball)
Size: Max. 16 players

Sign up as an individual player.
There are 12 weeks of play, including the regular season/playoffs (no regular season rain-out make-ups). Matches are three games to 15 points. Players are welcome to stay and play afterwards. This league is for 4.0 and above players who have successfully competed in the upper divisions of City of Eden Prairie pickleball leagues and or participate in 3.5-4.0 tournaments. Each Player will receive an individual handicap to ensure equitable play. Players should only register if they are able to attend the majority of leagues nights. Note: league applications will be reviewed to ensure that participants are in the appropriate division. 

Thursday Nights (Doubles Upper 3.0-3.5 level) - FULL
June 1–late August
6:15 p.m.
(warm-up 6 p.m.)

Cost: $40/Team
(Includes 2 Onix 2 game balls)
Size: Max. 9 teams

Sign up as a two person team (one person from the team signs the team up through their account).
There are 12 weeks of play, including the regular season/playoffs (no regular season rain-out make-ups). Matches are three games to 15 points. Players are welcome to stay and play afterwards. Each team will receive an individual handicap to ensure equitable play. Teams should only register if they are able to attend the majority of leagues nights. Note: league applications will be reviewed to ensure that participants are in the appropriate division.
